How it all started

The love for Defender was probably always there.
Long before I owned one, it sat quietly in the background of British life, utilitarian, unapologetic, unchanged.

Once we left London for Oxfordshire. Suddenly it made sense.
Mud instead of kerbs. Lanes instead of traffic.

After much patience and a very realistic budget, I found the one: a TD5 90.
Roof rack. Snorkel. Lights everywhere. A patina you couldn’t fake.

It had quirks.
I didn’t really drive it, I learned it.

Understanding followed.
Then obsession.

Two years later came chapter two: a Santorini Black 110, discovered by chance in Cornwall.

Cleaner. More capable. Almost civilised. A family car that still promised escape.

Naturally, it needed “a few things.” Rack. Ladder. Late-night rabbit holes of parts and possibilities.

That’s when the culture revealed itself — endless upgrades, infinite detail, total devotion.

But the clothing inspired by it? Never quite right. Too loud. Too try-hard.

So HUEY was born.

Not merchandise. Wearables. Built with the same honesty, restraint, and quiet confidence as the original that started it all.

How it will continue
